Breaking down the Basics of Botox/Dysport/Xeomin
Neuromodulator injections are one of the most popular treatments at The Garden. The treatment is fast, results are typically substantial, and it requires no downtime!
How do they work? Botox/Dysport/Xeomin are all forms of botulinum toxin type A. After they are injected, the toxin is absorbed by nerve endings which then stops the contraction of the muscle they are supplying. It generally takes 2-7 days for the contraction to stop. Dysport typically works a little quicker than the other neuromodulators, but they all typically last 3-4 months. For this reason, I generally favor Dysport, however I do believe all the products work similarly and work well so we do offer all three products at The Garden Medical Spa.
Will it hurt? Will I bruise? Usually: No. A 30 or 31 gauge needle is used for the injection (one of the smallest medical grade needles available) and we offer pre procedure topical anesthesia for all our patients if they'd like it. We want you to be comfortable and to enjoy your experience and we will do everything in our power for this to happen :) We have skilled and well trained injectors at The Garden who know where to inject and what to avoid so that it's unlikely you will have any bruising after your treatment.
Is there downtime? NO, NO, and NO. Go to the gym, go to yoga, go out to eat - enjoy yourself and your life.
Do I need it? Adult women and men of a wide variety of ages can benefit from adding neuromodulators to their skincare routine. If you've already got deep wrinkles, these can help to smooth out the appearance of them. If you've got fine lines, they can help erase them. If you haven't yet developed wrinkles, neuromodulators will prevent the repetitive contraction of the muscles that will cause wrinkles in the skin.
I hope this helps!
