Dermal Fillers

Whether you’ve noticed wrinkles and creases developing or you want to enhance certain features, we offer a versatile menu of dermal and lip fillers for our St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Pinellas Park, and North Palm Beach patients.

Types of Dermal Fillers: How Do They Work?

Volumizers and biostimulators are types of fillers work in different ways to minimize wrinkles and improve facial contours.

Hyaluronic Acid-Based Volumizers

Volumizers composed of hyaluronic acid, including The RHA® Collection and the JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® product lines, work immediately by adding volume. These include lip fillers and fillers for the face designed to add firmness and contours.

Collagen-Boosting Biostimulators

Biostimulators such as RADIESSE® are not technically fillers, although they do add some volume. They primarily work by stimulating the production of new collagen, with results gradually appearing for several months after your injections. RADIESSE relies on an ingredient called calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) and is effective in many areas of the face. Sculptra® is another well-known biostimulator that is especially effective for treating hollowness in the cheeks.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Fillers?

Facial aging is one of the most common reasons people get filler injections. Our faces start showing signs of aging as collagen production slows, and we lose facial fat and bone density. This shows up in wrinkles around the mouth, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, along with sunken or flattened cheeks and under eye bags and shadows. You may also notice your lips getting thinner.

If you’re looking for full face rejuvenation, filler injections offer other benefits, such as balancing and contouring. If you’ve used filters on social media apps to enhance your appearance, fillers can create similar changes lasting for many months. Lip fillers are one of the most popular treatments our team of expert injectors performs.

What Areas Can be Enhanced With Dermal Fillers?

One of the primary reasons fillers are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments year after year is their versatility. Fillers can address a range of concerns in virtually any area of the face.

The most common treatment areas include:

  • Under-eye bags and hollows
  • Chin and Jawline
  • Cheeks
  • Nasolabial Folds (Smile Lines)
  • Lines Around the Mouth (Smoker’s Lines)
  • Lips

How Much Do Filler Injections Cost in Tampa Bay and South Florida?

The cost of your treatment depends on the fillers used, the number of syringes needed to produce the desired results, and if you combine the fillers with other treatments like microneedling or laser skin rejuvenation. After consulting with one of our injectors, you’ll receive a price quote for review.

What Happens During the Consultation?

Our aesthetic injection specialists create customized treatment plans after examining your skin’s condition and listening to your concerns and goals. We also tell you which oral medications or supplements to avoid prior to your procedure. These include aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.), St. John’s wort, and high-dose vitamin E because they can increase bleeding and bruising at injection sites.

What Happens During Treatment?

The procedure is quick and convenient, and the results are practically instantaneous. All the fillers we use contain a local anesthetic agent called lidocaine, which makes the treatment more comfortable. For added comfort during lip augmentation, we use a topical numbing cream on the lips to help make the procedure as painless as possible.

What Is Dermal Filler Recovery Like?

Patients often return to work or their daily activities immediately after their dermal filler injections. Strenuous activity can resume the next day. Bruising is unusual after dermal filler injection if you have stopped, well in advance, medications and supplements that increase the risk of bruising, such as ibuprofen, garlic, aspirin, etc. Dermal filler side effects are unusual but can include temporary redness, bruising, and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

How Long Is Your Face Swollen After Fillers?

It’s normal to experience some swelling after your dermal filler treatment, especially in areas like the lips or cheeks where the skin is more delicate. Most swelling peaks within 24 to 48 hours, and then diminishes noticeably. However, minor puffiness may linger for up to a week, depending on your body’s healing response and the type of filler used. Avoiding strenuous exercise and keeping your head elevated after treatment helps minimize swelling.

Dermal Filler Brands

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all filler. Hyaluronic acid fillers differ in terms of the consistency of the gel, how the filler spreads, and longevity. Some fillers are better for certain treatment areas than others. Sometimes, we use multiple fillers in various places to improve facial balance.

The RHA Collection

RHA (resilient hyaluronic acid) mimics the hyaluronic acid found in the skin more closely than other (HA) fillers. Because of that, it moves more naturally with your facial dynamics.

The collection has 3 different consistencies:

  • RHA2: The thinnest of the 3 fillers, RHA2 is the best option for the lips and shallow wrinkles.
  • RHA3: A “workhorse” of a filler, RHA3 smooths out deeper wrinkles while still maintaining your natural look.
  • RHA4: This is the strongest of the collection. It is best used to lift deeper folds and wrinkles while restoring lost cheek volume.

RHA fillers are among the most popular at our med spa.

JUVÉDERM Fillers

JUVÉDERM® Ultra & JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus

The difference between Ultra and Ultra Plus is the consistency of the gel. Ultra’s consistency is thinner than that of Ultra Plus, and we use it for more superficial injections. Both produce immediate results that usually last 6 months or longer.

VOLUMA®

VOLUMA was the first filler approved by the FDA to address lost volume in the cheeks. It’s a thicker gel that’s injected deep into the cheeks and other areas. You’ll see immediate results that last up to two years.

VOLLURE®

One of the most recent additions to JUVÉDERM’s product line, VOLLURE treats moderate to severe folds and wrinkles. Results can last 12 months or longer.

VOLBELLA®

JUVÉDERM’s lip filler can be used for other superficial treatment areas. Results last 12 months or longer.

Restylane Fillers

Restylane®

This hyaluronic acid filler treats moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles resulting from the loss of facial fat. Additionally, it is used to fill in acne scars and augment the cheeks and chin. Results appear immediately and last 6 months or longer.

Restylane® Lyft

Thicker than the original Restylane filler, we use Lyft for deeper injections and facial contouring. The results of the procedure are immediate and typically last a year or more.

Restylane® Silk

This lip filler is the most delicate hyaluronic acid formula in the Restylane product line. It can be used for other superficial treatments in addition to lip augmentation. You’ll see immediate results that can last 6 months or more.

Restylane® Refyne

Designed to smooth and soften lines and wrinkles, such as moderate smile lines and lines around the mouth, the results of Refyne injections last 6 months or longer.

Restylane® Defyne

Defyne treats more severe folds and wrinkles than Refyne. Both are formulated with proprietary technology that makes them more flexible when injected into dynamic areas. This pliability produces natural-looking results that can last 6 months or longer.

Revanesse® Versa™+

This FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler smooths lines and wrinkles around the mouth, including nasolabial folds and smile lines. It produces natural-looking results that last 12 months or more.

Belotero BALANCE®

This filler uses an extremely delicate hyaluronic acid formula meant for injection into the lips and other superficial sites. Results last 6 months or longer.

RADIESSE

As mentioned, RADIESSE is a biostimulator that spurs collagen production over time. It’s effective for adding volume to concave temples, enhancing cheekbones, softening nasolabial folds, strengthening the jawline and chin, and reducing the appearance of aging hands. Results can last more than a year.

What Is a ‘Liquid Facelift’ or Nonsurgical Facelift?

Combining dermal fillers with BOTOX® Cosmetic, called a nonsurgical or liquid facelift , can produce optimal results because they address different types of wrinkles. BOTOX (as well as XEOMIN®, Jeuveau®, or DAXXIFY®) treats lines and wrinkles caused by the repeated contractions of facial muscles instead of replacing volume within the skin. If you’re looking for a noninvasive facelift, this minimally invasive approach is ideal for refreshing your appearance. For people with mild to moderate signs of aging, a liquid facelift is often an excellent but temporary alternative to facelift surgery that doesn’t require incisions or lengthy downtime.

Dermal Fillers FAQ
Who is qualified to inject dermal fillers?

In Florida, only licensed medical professionals, such as physicians, advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), or physician assistants under a physician’s supervision, can perform dermal filler injections.

How long do dermal fillers last?

It depends on the filler. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane can last 6 to 18 months or more, depending on the product. A biostimulator such as Sculptra is approved by the FDA to last up to two years. You can discuss the expected longevity of the results with your injector.

What’s the best dermal filler brand?

There is no single “best” brand of dermal fillers. That’s why The Garden Medical Spa offers a diverse menu of options. Individuals may prefer one type of hyaluronic acid filler over another, or they may need biostimulator injections to get the best results.

Do fillers make you look unnatural?

No, when administered correctly by skilled providers, dermal fillers enhance your features subtly and naturally. At The Garden Medical Spa, we focus on balance and refinement—not overfilling—so you still look like you, just more refreshed.
