Lip Filler Brands
Just as there isn’t a one-size-fits-all filler for other areas of the face, there isn’t a single “best” lip filler. The hyaluronic acid fillers we use for lip enhancement have different gel consistencies and longevity.
The fillers we use in the lip area include:
RHA® 2: Part of the RHA® (resilient hyaluronic acid) collection, RHA 2 is the thinnest of the 3 RHA fillers, and is the best option for the lips. Like other RHA fillers, it mimics the hyaluronic acid found in the skin more closely than other HA fillers and moves more naturally as you smile or talk. It typically lasts from 9 to 15 months.
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA®: The softest and smoothest of all JUVÉDERM® fillers, VOLBELLA is an excellent option for a subtle lip volume increase. It can also minimize “smoker’s lines” around the upper lip. Results usually last 12 months or longer.
Restylane® Silk: This lip filler is the Restylane® product line’s most delicate hyaluronic acid formula. It can be used for other superficial treatments in addition to lip augmentation. You’ll see immediate results that can last 6 months or more.
Belotero BALANCE®: Belotero injections can shape and augment the lips and reduce the appearance of lip lines. You’ll see results immediately, and they can last 6 to 12 months.

While lip fillers add volume to the lips, BOTOX injections create the appearance of a fuller upper lip without changing its size. This is an option if you either want to avoid fillers or want a subtle change to the appearance of your upper lip. When we inject BOTOX into a small muscle just above the upper lip, the lip rolls (flips) upward revealing more of the red lip vermillion. You’ll see results about 10 to 14 days after the treatment; maintenance treatments are needed every 3 to 4 months.
What to Expect During Your Lip Filler Appointment
After discussing your goals with one of our injectors, we’ll numb the lips so you’ll remain comfortable during the injections. The injector uses a small needle during the treatment and then gently massages the injection sites to prevent lumps from forming. The appointment typically takes about 30 minutes.

You can return to your daily activities immediately following your appointment. You may notice some swelling or bruising, but that’s not always the case. You should avoid applying lip balms or lipstick for 12 hours. We’ll provide detailed post-care instructions to follow at home.

- How long do lip fillers last?

While the answer depends on factors such as filler type, injection technique, and individual metabolism, most hyaluronic acid fillers used for lip augmentation last between 6 and 12 months. Again, these are ballpark figures, and your filler results may last longer.
- How long does it take lip filler to settle?

It can take about 2 weeks for lip fillers to settle, and it may take another week or 2 before you see the final outcome. Swelling occurs immediately after the treatment and typically reaches its peak about 2 to 3 days later. By week two, most swelling should be resolved, and your lips will feel significantly more natural.
- Does lip filler hurt?

Lips are sensitive, so it’s natural to worry about your comfort during lip filler injections. Although most of our clients tolerate the treatment well, describing the sensation as a brief pinch, we can apply a topical numbing agent before your injections if requested.
- How old do you have to be to get lip filler?

In Florida, it’s legal to get lip filler injections if you’re 18 or older. However, the FDA has only approved popular fillers such as Restylane and JUVÉDERM for patients who are at least 21.
